reflection for 2004

updates on melbourne trip. well, looks like family may not be able to go on to Melbourne, air tickets are too expensive for the whole family to go. so have opened up to ask friends to go with me to Melbourne. well, we are all in the midst of discussion through email.

in the meantime, it's a crazy time at work. everyone is rushing to finish the syllabus, cos tmr is the exams already. on one hand, i'm happy, this signals that we will be seeing the last of the students soon. on the other hand, i'm sad and worried. the post exams period is not one thing i look forward to. the students can be very havoc without any concrete things to do. got to plan something for them to do. sad, also becos,

this year has gone by very fast. it's like 'What!?! october already??!??" so fast. what did i accomplish this year? new friends? promotion? oh yah, i know what i accomplished. i had an accident, that is one great acheivement this year. ok, let me list down my achievements:

1) one great car accident (well, at least it got me thinking about my life, change my views about life and death)

2) more regular mahjong sessions

3) holiday trips (educational trips: batam, cairns. leisure trip: HK, bintan) still counting

4) Caring Teacher Award

5) more cash in the bank at month's end

goals for next year:

1) pay off the stupid credit lines and cards (but they are very handy when going travelling)

2) Marcus and Mabel are starting school. spend more time playing with them. teach them to rebel against their teachers! haha!

3) must plan a trip to bring M&M to australia in june

i think hor, i a bit mad leh, it's only september and i'm doing my reflection for the entire year. siao!

won 3N accomodation at melbourne

sigh... sorry to start the blog with a sigh. yesterday, juz won a 3N accomodation to melbourne. it was like a great prize, i mean i have always wanted to go melbourne with my family. this is a good chance to go since accomodation is paid for.

however, that's when the stress comes. it's stressful to plan a trip with family. it's stressful to find air tickets. and it's damn expensive. $850 per person, and that is without tax. so for the whole family to fly to melbourne just to enjoy a week in Melbourne, this is coming up to $3500. that is excluding food, transport etc. so tell me, is it worth to go or should i just sell the voucher away and have a fatter christmas?

had to turn down my colleagues who are going to Japan, otherwise, it was planned to go Japan with my colleagues. now i think i just want to stay put in Singapore, less hassle. but then again, it's melbourne leh... sigh the dilemna.

today is mid autumn, but look at the sky, so overcast, how to 'shang yue' tonite? life is worth living for, if u choose to. but sometimes, there is no choice. no choice because the god damn seconds are ticking away, and u always find yourself not having enough god damn time. sorry, some incidents were on my mind as i'm typing this and i'm really piss off. it's like when people ask me to find some documents for them, it's like i have the whole day to search for their one document like that and they want it instantly like that. please lah.

another week is over

sigh, so fast, another week is over. i have good and bad feelings towards the exams. in one way, i'm so glad that the exams are coming, that means teaching is coming almost to an end, but that i'll dread exams ending. cos i know the student will sure not like to continue their studies, but for sec threes, we can actually continue our syllabus, so that next year, we can have more time for revision, but the students are not going to understand this lor. they are thinking that after exams, should relax already. so the dilema (how to spell?)

hope that this coming week is a happy week.

life is worth living for, if we make the choice

driving range

Has been going to the driving range recently. practising the irons.

when i first started out, it was tiring, the next day, my muscles were aching man. then someone told me that i have to surpass the pain barrier, so the following day, went to driving range again for the second time. i guessed after that nite, i've really broke the pain barrier.

also got the tactics of hitting the balls already. it was like at least now out of 10 balls, 8 balls can fly. i also realise that when your hand gets tired, your balls, i mean the golf balls also koyak, if u insist on pushing on. really need to take a rest one. no short cut

and u really need to concentrate and focus. full concentration needed.

also someone commented on my attire for golf. too ah soh? too simple? well, at least i can now hit the balls. there are some ladies, at the driving range, wear very nice, but then hor, when it comes to hitting the balls... sigh ok, i'll stop here otherwise i'll end up commenting as if i'm a pro like that, then that makes me vey hao lian. cannot, we must be humble. pride goes before a fall.

going to the range again this afternoon.

reasons why i can hit the balls:
1) imagine the ball to be my most hated person's face ( i shall not elaborate on who) and give that bugger a good whack on the face. that helps a lot.

2) imagine the ball to be the most irritating students' face. rude, stubborn students. gave their face a good whack too

3) imagine the ball to be one of my trouble. gave my trouble a good whack and sent it flying into the air, away from me.

amazing race

first, my wheatgrass. it's not growing very well after i've trimmed it. i think i put it near the windows where it has some evening sun, so maybe too hot, the wheatgrass turned brown. nvm, i still have two new pots which i'm supposed to grow myself. will do it once i have the free time.

ok, the amazing race. wow, i was so uptight for the 1st section of the race. thought that colin and christie will get eliminated, not that i like them or wat. the climb really break the superbowl mums and the black guy. but that part of philippines looks great man! the water is so clear... wish i can dive into it.

then the last part of the race. thot the dating models esp the lady, oh my, it's just a bicycle, y did she get so hysterical and wanting to give up? i was thinking, mayb it was too cold, so she got some brain freeze and can't control her emotions. can't she handle the bicycle steadily? wow man, flight really changes everything. thot that the first two groups who reached the airport got their air tickets to texas, but flight was delayed, wow. then the black couple quietly and not want to say anything.. cunning sia.

guess the black couple was lucky, they had the first 20 mins or so in advance. that really help them. otherwise they would have wasted so much time at the maze. well, i guess they all played well. true colours were shown, definitely.

as for colin, i c him in a different light last nite. i think he's damn smart. he's a very strong competitor, he has brains! the only thing is he needs to brush up his knowledge about flags. anyway, i was thinking, at the detour, he did not choose the bicycle, he knew that and could foresee that it would be very difficult to control the bicycle downhill on the snow covered ground. he anticipated that. then the night before they went to texas, he actually booked a cab way in advance. then the part that got me saluting him was the way he walked the maze. he was like telling christie, always turn left, take the outside objects (i think it's a big water tank) as reference point. i think they spent very little time at the maze. amazing.

as for the dating models, i think brandon is a sweet guy, he's always taking care of his gf. SNAG.

well, sad that the show ended, that means, there is no meaning to my wednesday nites anymore. sob sob.

Wheatgrass

i just bought a pot of wheatgrass on friday. cool! and i can actually cut it and extract the juice out. cool, then u can either add lemon or lime for taste and drink the juice. talk about healthy living. only thing is i dun have an extractor. a blender is no good, cos i dun need the grass.

then also bought a packet to start growing wheatgrass from scratch. haven't had time to try it out yet.

i'm not so much of into drinking the wheatgrass juice that i bought the pot, i'm more of wanting to grow wheatgrass in my small little corner. greens are good for the house.

weekend

weekend came and went very fast. brought back two bags of work to do, but only do little, could not meet target of completing some of the things i wanted to do.

now hands are still aching from playing golf on sat. old already, muscles so stiff. lousy.

met up with my mum, sis and her bf for dinner. actually it's more for my mum to see her grandchildren. went to this thai restaurant. a la carte buffet. well some of the food is nice, some of it, average. so full after eating. have to go on diet this week. and i still can't believe that my sis' bf actually won an Xbox in the fries prize. he is so lucky. that time, the movie marathon, he's also one of the lucky 20 winners out of 400 contestants to win a prize. oh yah, his blog address is here, can go and read.

http://www.xanga.com/mAdne55

after we all reached home, read three days newspaper in one hour. no good, not reading the details, just skim through the headlines.

marcus (my eldest son) cried again during the nite when sleeping. he always do this kind of thing. always dun want to sleep in the afternoon, then at nite, he will have this crying thing. and it has to be sunday where the next morning we have to go to work. and when he cries, it's so loud like i beat him like that lor. then he'll stand up in his sleep and walked ard. scary, had to call his name. when he still can't stop crying, i was like 'shut up and go to sleep!'

so feeling a little zombie today, lack of sleep and this evening, going to driving range again, great, i'm going to break my hands soon. but i like it, it's like a good exercise and more so after last nite's buffet.

HK last day

right, i better quickly faster pen down my HK last day otherwise i'll be forgetting it already. that's how forgetful i m now.

on the morning before we check out, took MTR to Wong Tai Sin temple. it's a temple that most tourists must visit. so manage to find the place. but didn't really pray there, cos i find it too complicated and maybe it's in the middle of housing estates. plus there were many China tourists that morning and you know what! they dunno how to hold their joss sticks in a proper way! almost burnt me, i was like cursing and swearing at them. don't get the peace i get from the buddha i visited the day before.

then we took MTR back, thought we'll just stop by the Women Street. but when we came out from the station, all the stalls were just setting up, nothing to shop and buy.

so in the end, we went back to the hotel. quickly showered and check out, late 30 mins in checking out.

our transport will come and pick us up to the airport at 5. so we have about 5 hours of shopping to do. went shopping. been into a few shops. some of the clothes are cheap as they are clearing off their summer clothings in preparation for displaying autumn clothings. so bought clothes for the family like it was for free like that. wait my credit card bills come, i'll know how much i spend. at least signed S$200 to the card.

one thing i find out about the service in HK is that they have certainly improved a lot already. i used to hear pple say that HK people, service very bad, if u dun buy, they very rude to u. but this is totally different fm wat pple describe to me. once we stepped into the shop, they will welcome u. take the clothings for u, after fitting out, u just hang the clothings there, if u intend to buy it, they will get a new one from the shelf. then when we were at bossini, wanted a bermudas on the manequinn, couldn't find it on the shelf, asked a salesgirl, she actually communicated to her colleagues thru the communication device and have the bermudas sent right up to us. we dun even have to search for it nor go to the salesgal, we just stood there, waited for the thing to be sent to us, and the shop isn't even big.

also their service was really superb. they dun care about gender and age. we stepped into a VCD shop selling VCD, was browsing ard the shop (there are many people in the shop as well). the sales people are friendly, willing to help u find any VCD titles. for us, we just politely said that we just want to look ard. couldn't buy any of the VCD, cos afraid that we cannot get thru the customs. then forgetting that HK is actually quite an open minded country, where RA kind of VCDs, magazines are easily available, i picked up one VCD and turned to read the story line. then i realise it was RA one. then i heard a voice beside me, (in cantonese), "this is the latest title in this series. you can buy vol.1, 2 and 3. all of them are quite nice. want to buy all the 4 to watch?" i turned around and realise this young salesman talking to me and he was like proceeding to take one of each and bring it to the cashier. i quickly stopped him and said i can't buy cos it is impossible for me to bring it into Singapore. just smiled at him and quickly go and join my hubby which is at the other corner of the shop. i was so paiseh. but their sales service is really good lor.

after all the walking, bought some snack food to eat. last chance to eat already. then waited at the hotel lobby. on the coach bus to the airport, i was so tired, fell asleep.

then do all the necessary checking in, then lingered around in the airport, it's like we have one and a half hour to boarding time.

the trip back is so-so, nothing special, hubby slept in the plane, i watched 'stepford wives'. oh yah on the way to HK, we actually watched 'the day after tmr', a movie i wanted very much to watch.

when we reached singapore, can't wait to get home to hug the two kids. boy, i do miss them alot.

time is running away

wish i can pause the time and finish doing all my things, then i'll unpause time again. or can anyone give us 48 hrs a day? can't seem to finish my things.

reach school at 8, now it's already 10 plus, haven't started any of the original things i've planned to do for the morning and the meeting is at 2.15pm. haven't do any preparation yet. shit.

but as they say, work never finish, so can work as hard as i can now, later when it's off work, no more work for me man. going to driving range later. wish i can hit the balls man. also hope i hit the right balls. haha.

then 830, it's off to mahjong. yessssss, missed it for three weeks already. eh, to my dear students who are so dear to me, who might be reading this blog, too bad, marking class test will have to wait today. tmr then i'll mark your class tests!!!!! ha

ok, read about adding tag board, i'm going to get from chatterbox, but then hor, must sign up and read instructions and blah blah blah, today got no time lah, next time, when i very 'eng' then i'll add tagboards. in the meantime, pls just add comments, ok.

also i still owe u all Hong Kong Day 3, aiyah, today no time lah. then hor, it's almost 11 already, shit. yah, i also need to go toilet now to shit. great.......... now i'm literally shitting. okok, enough of shit, it's starting to stink.

HK second day

suppose to wake up 7 plus, ended up 830. quickly got changed, went down for breakfast. again, along the streets, one of those shops. oh yah, forgot to mention, last nite, when we came back from LKF, the street was still so busy, it's like almost 12 plus close to 1am. some shops are still open, some eateries are still open.

anyway, today's iti is to go to the outlying islands. went to the ferry terminal. again bought the one day island hopping pass. HK $30, worth it. ferry took about 45 mins to reach lantau islands. then took bus no. 2 to the great buddha there. 45 mins ride. but the 45 mins was interesting, get to see some of the things around the island. oh yah, quite a lot of expatriates live on lantau island.

finally reach the great buddha. beautiful place, cold, cos it's quite high up in the mountains. breezy. great buddha looks magnificiant. i think it's the serenity and peacefulness i get from the place. bought the tickets, oh my, got to climp up 268 steps in order to reach the buddha. climbed slowly. next, just walk around. inside, there are many tablets where the ashes are put. spotted Anita mui's tablet. pay her respect.

then, went to the temple to take a look. also at the temple's canteen there got free food. becos we bought the ticket, so can redeem free vegetarian meal. great, lunch is settled.

then took bus back and waited for ferry to go to peng chau. but we have about 45 mins to wait, so we went to the open pub, cafe nearby the terminal to have a drink. can face the sea while drinking also. cool! also we sort of like walked one round, saw at least 3 shops opened by ang moh. they are really 'invading' the lantau island. anyway, the open cafe is also managed by an angmoh and his filipina wife, i think.

took boat to peng chau. a very small fishing island. one hour can tour the whole island. i think no ang moh here, but a lot of elderly people.walked around the island, no need for map, will not get lost and villagers are very helpful, can ask for directions. walk along the coast, sampans are moored near the coast, people were catching crabs, (low tide) then also at 4 plus, the family (woman and grandma) are playing with their children, standing on their balcony which is overlooking the sea. sea view! oh, there's plenty of mahjong playing on the island. the sound is unavoidable.

took a ferry back to kowloon, went back to hotel. took a rest. when we were on our way back to the hotel, bought some food to eat. these are really cheap, food like sotong balls or squids strung on satay stick. they will boil the thing for you and u can also buy some soup to go with it. bought this one that looks like sharks fin soup, starchy. went back to the hotel, had a small feast, rested for a while.

at nite, went out, walked along the streets. finally saw this unique restaurant which has one of the set with roasted pigeon. decided to step into this restaurant. very funny, it's really west meets east kind of thing. anyway, ordered one set of that roasted pigeon dinner. my, when the serving comes, it was big serving. i mean there is soup (check this out, cream of chicken with sharks fin) there were a few more dishes, can't remember them.

then after eating, it's back to LKF again. my goodness, from far, u can see plenty of pple standing on the streets of LKF. happening man. walked around, went straight into the first one we saw that there are seats to sit down. then had one drink. pub hopping, but ended up in the same one as the first nite. this time, we are smarter, took a seat near the bar. hubby said i was very engrossed looking at other people ard me. i dunno, as i was looking at them, i was looking at their dressing. the ang mohs, they look so happy, unwinding themselves, the locals, that smirk on their face when they are talking to ang moh, like we should envy them for having ang moh as friends like that. then there are these two ladies, or this lady, think she looks like the boss of the pub. local, of some age, trendy. she was like standing at the door there, talking to customers. but the people she choose to speak to are ang moh males. and she was like all over them like that. slut!

then there was this local gal with ang mo also, sitting at the bar. they actually kissed in public! the thing about their kiss is that, they were so into the kissing, both of them close their eyes. i was like watching them if they could be stripping the next moment or not. then there is this couple, think china couple. so rich, never finish their drink, went off already. i was like, so wasted man. hey, beer is not cheap in HK, comparable to Singapore ok.

anyway, we didn't manage to catch the last MTR back, so need to take a taxi. check this out, the journey was not far, it's like ang mo kio to toa payoh like that, and the fare comes out to HK $189. about S$20! my goodness, no wonder, their taxi, no business.

anyway, reached hotel, again slept like a log. feeling a bit sad. cos tmr going back to singapore already.

Hong Kong Day one

went to HK on 9/9 to 11/9. just wanted to talk about my feelings and thots before i forget.

first day when we reach, wasted some damn time waiting for people to board the transport which bring us to the hotel. next time, i'll know how to travel from the airport to the hotel, no problems.

oh yah, the hotel room, surprisingly, it's spacious. i mean i've heard of pple telling me how cramp the room is, so this is a nice surprise. but the hotel was renovating, so the view outside was like scaffold and green net. not much of a view. as soon as we put down our luggage, went out to explore the area.

oh no, we went for lunch first, starving, hotel downstairs, along the street, some noodle shop. my, the streets/roads, so narrow. the pavement so near to the road and the pavement, so 'big', enough for single traffic only.

next, we took MTR, bought the HK$100 tourist pass which will enable us to take numerous trips for 24 hrs. then went to the ferry terminal to check out the ferry time.

went to Lan Kwai Fong for happy hour. it's really a slope as shown in those drama serials. took the pub's matchbox, nice design, will never get a pass in Singapore, cos it shows a woman lying down, exposing her breasts. most pubs in LKF are managed by ang mohs.

after that, went back to hotel. booked a tour for the night. the transport is on time. of course we were on time too, then first stop, seafood dinner at tuen mun. nice spread. scallops, crabs, crayfish and some other sea food not tried in Singapore.

next stop, avenue of stars. nothing special. just their hand print only lor, but then it's quite dark already, so what's can't see much too. then 8pm, there is this laser show. from kowloon where we were standing, we look across to HK island and they decorated 18 buildings with special bulbs and laser and then for about 20 mins, there is this laser show. but that nite, the commentary is in chinese, so cina. my hair stands on end.

next, took the star ferry across to HK island. i think HK people take ferry daily, so taking ferry is like taking taxi for them. anyway, after alighting, took a trip on the open air double decker bus. then saw the HSBC building, according to one of them, she said that this is the building where the 'vampire' drama serial was taken. then went to the tram station, took a train up to The Peak. my goodness, the tram was literally 45 degrees, we were in the tram and we were also 45 degrees slanted. all the houses look so slanted. one ang moh actually had to stand up and said he wanted to balance, can't take the slant. when we reach The Peak, the view not as spectacular becos it was quite foggy that nite. nevertheless, it was breathtaking.

next, we took the transport back, bring us to temple street. it's just like any pasar malam. many people looking, not many people bought things. just bought a belt and a bracelet.

quickly took a MTR to LKF again. went to anther pub, sat down. then came this big group of people, mixed, with ang mohs, locals. think it's a company thing. but wat strike me was that when ang moh let their hair down to party and enjoy, they are really wild.

stayed until about 12 plus, still manage to catch the MTR back. slept like a log that nite.

Serena's blog

this is my sister's blog. http://www.xanga.com/soap_bubble.

as i'm typing this, i think i seeing double image on my screen, shit, think too much blogging already, will end here for the day.

TGIF

great, it's finally friday, but then, not much happening today. tmr still have to report for work, worse still, one meeting will start at 2.15pm. wah! what happened to 5 day week? so tonite, can't party too much

anyway, frens wanted to arrange mahjong for tonite, but we are short of one leg. sigh, always the case.

got plenty of marking to do during the weekends. not a good weekend. next week, dun even dare to think of it. sianzzzzz again. think i'm complaining too much. well, wat to do, i'm actually a very depressed sad-do, i'm just putting up a happy face. i totally agree that it's hypocritical, but what to do? i can't go on putting on a sad face. nobody will bother about your sad face. so no point, just put on a happy face and life will go on smoothly.

boring blog

ok, i know my blog is boring, i haven't add a tagboard and the template i choose is boring and blah blah.

eh, i'm actually very busy right now, in fact, i already got problems reading my emails, what say to blog? so i really dun have the time to explore this website. this has to be put off till the holidays, no choice.

what should i say today? well, just came back from the canteen, had a hot (literally hot and spicy) bowl of mee soto, satisfaction.

btw, anybody listens to WKRZ 91.3? the songs these past few days they play are not so happening leh. or was it me that is not so happening. dunnoe, felt that the songs they play are so
'centro'. now listening to it, still the same.

plenty of things to do on my 'to-do' list, dunnoe, just feel so lazy, dun feel like doing anything, while all my colleagues ard me r so busy... guilty.

also, i kena relief today. sianzzzzzzz, altho it's only one period, but it's like 'me again?' what happen to equal misery??? hate this, every thurs, sure kena relief. can't people just be healthy and come to work or bring themselves to come to work?

nite of wed 15/9

guess i'm bad at giving titles to my blogs, just look at it, so boring.

maybe becos i dun really have an idea what i want to blog, so that's y no heading for my blog.

it's almost 12 midnite. wanted to blog earlier, but then was busy watching amazing race. oh god, colin and partner are really lucky, it's the last of the non-elimination race. thot they would be eliminated. colin is really a spit fire, so hot tempered.

then it's the month to pay bills again. so much bills to pay, and all of them are necessary, can't even not pay anyone of them for a month. it adds on to next month n it gets worse. better pay off watever i can this month.

will be going to sleep soon.. got to wake up early tmr. great, tmr is a short day for me, yeah!

Wed 15/09

i have like 10 mins to go before EL meeting. but thot that i wanted to write this blog first. i still have not go to the toilet. time is so short, and there are just so many things to do. sigh, see no end to work.

ok, i'm stupid, tried to add people's blog, but i dunnoe how to do it, no time to try also. and Naqiah (if u were ever reading this), u were rite, the website is damn slow. something wrong. sigh again. well, life is full of ups and downs. things dun always turn out the way we want it to be.

can someone pls teach me how to add people's blog? so each time i create a new blog, i need to fill in the url address? if i want to stick to this url address, i just add new post? if i have another url address, will u people be able to see this other blog?

thanks to any kind soul who can help this poor teacher to blog successfully. told u i'm in this new age crisis, can't catch up with technology.

first blog of my life

ok, so this is the first blog of my life. have always wanted to blog, but can't find a good blog website. saw some students doing their blog today in the computer lab( altho they shouldn't be doing it) decided to do it straight away. Man, u never noe if u ever have the chance again if today is over. life is that short. and as i said, we are drifters, drifting in our own lives, drifting into other people's lives. i'm not even talking abt big ships here, i picture myself in a sampan, drifting my life away.

quite depressing, but it's true. what to do, after 29 years on this faceless earth, life is beginning to suck. well, it's definitely not menopause or mid life crisis, it's too early. it could be the new age crisis. sigh

gtg, bell is going to ring. will end a few more blogs soonest.
