Windows versus MacBook

The battle of the year. Was working on new year's eve, how sad, right?

So I had 2 laptops on the table.

Honestly, I'm lost in the windows OS, it takes me some time to get used to.

Feb 2011's post

I believe that trials are to make one stronger. The process is difficult, sometimes painful, but in the end, we should triumph (brand of bra, what a name) over trials. Persevere and jia you is the only thing i can tell myself now. even if the end process is not what i expected, i guess, yes, it would be painful because after trying so hard, you did not reach your goal. I guess, just bear the pain and continue. No point lingering and staying. this promise i had made, this pain i will bear. The above was copied from my Feb 2011s post. I find myself repeating the same thing, so i guess i strongly believe in challenges of life, even if the outcome is not what one might expect.

Just read 2010's post

Oh, i just read 2010's december post, I was having a major conflict in marriage. 2010 christmas day post, i quarreled with spouse. so my last sentence just now was not correct. if 2010 was bad, i should be looking forward to 2011 then. but neither, i didn't like 2010, neither was i looking forward to 2011.

word of closure

It is new year's eve, usually on this day, people will reflect and do a closure and look forward to the new year with resolutions. Well, my resolution for 2012 is to complete my resolutions for 2011. simple. In another words, some resolutions just get carry over year after year. I'm not going into a lengthy description on how to fulfill your goals. 2011 has its ups and downs or should i say that life is full of ups and downs? when it's up, we enjoy it, (ha! sorry, suddenly think of another thing that it's up and enjoyable) when it's down, we learn to conquer it and overcome it. but of course, i know the process, the negative feelings and emotions. The sooner we overcome challenges, the better it is for us, right? Adversity makes us a better person. always believe that there is light after the tunnel, there is sunshine after the rain. The tunnel may be long and dark, the rain may be long, but since all good things must come to an end, all bad things must come to an end too, right? i remembered last year, on new year's eve, i didn't want 2010 to end because i was not looking forward to 2011. Now, I still didn't like 2011, so i'm hoping to close up 2011 fast and move on to 2012. not that 2012 will be better, but hope that it would be better.

Gal day out

That day, had a wonderful gathering with gal friends. It was a fruitful time of gathering, catching up and sharing. We went to this jap restaurant which is apparently famous and people queued to eat in the restaurant. Given my character, if I see queue, I would just walk away but with gal friends....

That was the noodle I ordered. Not bad, it was tasty. Sorry, not a food critic. As long as th food is tasty and palatable, it's fine with me.

X factor

Just watching the last part of x factor, wow, it was so powerful. The final 3, the winner. I'm overwhelmed.

My first try cooking cioppino

Will be cooking for tonight's potluck. Now the food is thawing. Someone told me the correct word is thaw, not defrost. Ok, so thaw the food now.

Ok after thawing, I have 2 helpers to help me cook, Mabel and max. Mabel helped to cut the garlic, Max helped to put in the butter.

So started with the soup base first. When it boils, we put in all the seafood, of course the kids wanted to help too.

Then after simmering for a short while, turn off the fire.

Well, I tasted it, seems ok. Anyway how does cioppino taste like, I also dunno.

Was worried about the seafood smell, so I put in more parsley and basil leaves.

Outing with 3m, day 3

So today wasn't exactly sunny, I took a very long time before I decided to proceed on with sentosa plan. We are just going to hang out at the beach.

When we reach there, we had lunch at the food court first. Then we head to a nice spot on the beach. We laid out the mat and place our things on top.

Marcus and Mabel mostly played in the water, soaking themselves on the water, max played with the sand on the beach. I sat on the mat. Only when max wanted to go into the water, I accompanied him while keeping a look out on our belongings.

Outing with 3m, wed 21 dec

Today, we went to the titanic artifact exhibition.

It was an eye opener, and I try to relate to them the science part on the rivets, the different class cabin, and of we were to go on the cruise, it would be similarly like that, minus the sinking, of course.

Outings with 3M, Tuesday, 20 dec

Finally, Marcus is officially free to go anywhere since his 14 days are over! So glad Mabel didn't break out in chicken pox. So this week, to make up for the misse vacation, I going to bring them out.

On this day, we went explorer kids. They played for 2 and half hours. Marcus and Mabel played the adventure thing for a few times. (we bought the $25 flat rate per child promotion). Max played on the big playground and made two friends. They also went to ballocity. After that we had lunch.

On planning, we were suppose to go swim, but the sky was dark so we called off the swim and we went to buy xmas presents instead.

After we came home, Mabel did all the wrapping of the presents.

partied until knock out

There are two report at stomp recently about young people partying so hard that they slept on the floor in the public, I'm wondering if they lose their belongings the next morning they woke up. If they didn't lose their belongings, (the recent stomp incident, the man's briefcase was in between his legs) I'm amazed. If it is in another country, i believe, your briefcase, wallet, maybe even belt, keychain will all be gone!

numbers

wow, this is my 1800th post. cool. sigh, back to numbers again, why is it that we must always quantify things? work wise: KPIs, percentage passes, percentage distinction, no.of assignments, no. of tests, no. of hours of training, MSG etc etc, the list is endless. depressing family: marks, now, i'm even looking and counting my blog posts.

what a joke!

since comfort raised its taxi fare and extended its peak hours, many commuters are boycotting taxis. That is understandable. So, many commuters are taking the MRT. I was thinking, the MRT must be really crowded these few days.

and guess what, circle line MRT broke down this morning!!!!!!! hahahahaha, what a joke.

Supper

We had a crazy idea for supper. Steamboat!!!! Yes, dunno why. And it's japanese kind of steam boat. We started at 9 plus, a quick, short one, by 10 plus, we are full and done.

Dunno what bite yesterday. See, it's slightly swollen. Can't walk properly, ouch.

We changed into our swim suit, but guess what, before we could even jump into the pool, it rained heavily. So we are sitting down and wait for it to stop raining.

So when it stopped raining, we quickly went to swim.
